This template can be used in the "References" section of an entry to provide a citation for Otto Jespersen's A Modern English Grammar on Historical Principles, published in seven parts.

Usage of the 1961 George Allen & Unwin edition, available online at the Internet Archive (parts 1 2 3 4 5 6 7), is assumed.

The template takes the following parameters:

|1=, |volume= – mandatory: the volume number cited in uppercase Roman numerals or Arabic numerals; can be any value from |volume=I/1 to |volume=VII/7.
|2=, |section=, or |sections= – the section number(s) cited in Arabic numerals.
|3=, |page=, or |pages= – the number(s) of the page(s) cited as a reference.
|4=, |text=, or |passage= – a passage cited from the source.
|chapter= – the chapter cited.
|nodot= – by default, the template adds a full stop (period) at the end of the citation. To suppress this punctuation, use |nodot=1 or |nodot=yes.
