Probably nobody ever pronounced penbe and it is a spelling transcription. Because it never happened in Persian either and we can track /m/ up to Middle Persian; the cluster /mb/ was spelled /نب/ in Persian, Ottoman and Arabic. Also we have the Ottoman Turkish transliteration schema like the Turkish, not to artificially distinguish based on the spelling, [[WT:OTA TR]]. |
