{{etyl}} (etymology language) was a high-use template for many years before finally meeting its demise in 2022. The use of {{etyl}} followed by {{term}} to indicate etymons was superseded by a range of other templates, including {{der}}, {{inh}}, {{bor}}, {{lbor}}, {{slbor}}, {{cog}} and {{noncog}}.
{{etyl}} only exists to make old revision histories legible. Entries using {{etyl}} are formatted with .deprecated CSS class and are categorized in Category:Pages using deprecated templates.
