Documentation for සැකිල්ල:la-adj. [edit]
This page contains usage information, categories, interwiki links and other content describing the template.

This template creates a headword line for all types of Latin adjectives (including multiword/multipart adjectives), except for comparatives (which should use la-adj-comp) and superlatives (which should use la-adj-sup). It replaces the several templates that used to exist.

• |1= required
The lemma, with any extra information required to properly specify the declension, exactly as for la-adecl; see below; can include links in the case of multiword or multipart adjectives
• |comp=, |comp2=, … optional
The comparative form(s)
• |sup=, |sup2=, … optional
The superlative form(s)
• |adv=, |adv2=, … optional
The corresponding adverb(s)
• |lemma= optional
The lemma, with links in it. Rarely needed, as the lemma can almost always be properly extracted from the first parameter. It is needed e.g. for plūs, where the nominative masculine singular is missing.
• |num= optional
Number restriction, if not specified as a subtype in |1=. For first/second declension plural-only adjectives such as dēnī, it is enough to specify the lemma in the plural form.
• |title= optional
Override the automatically-generated title.
• |indecl=1 optional
Specify that the adjective is indeclinable.

Most of the time, just specifying the lemma along with any corresponding adverbs, comparatives and superlatives is enough, e.g.:

• bonus (good):
• līber (free):
• audāx (bold):
• suāvis (sweet):

For third-declension adjectives of three terminations, you need to give a hint that the adjective is third-declension (otherwise, it will be assumed to be first/second-declension):

• ācer (sharp, bitter):

Sometimes you have to give the stem, if not deducible from the lemma (the rules for deducing the stem are the same as for la-ndecl):

• piger (slow, dull): piger/pigr
• locuplēs (rich, wealthy, possessing large landed property): locuplēs/locuplēt

For third-declension non-i-stem adjectives, you need to specify this explicitly using the .-I subtype:

Sometimes you need to combine an explicit stem, partial or total specification of the declension, and a subtype:

• vetus (old):
• ūber (fruitful, copious):

In the latter case, it's not enough to indicate that the adjective is third-declension using 3+, because it will then be assumed to be an adjective of three terminations, as with ācer above. In this case, you need to specify the full declension 3-1+ to indicate that it is third-declension of one termination.

If the adjective consists of multiple words or multiple parts, include links in the first parameter as needed:

• ad utrumque parātus (ready for either alternative): ad utrumque parātus
